Governor Gary Herbert on 2018 legislative session

Inside Utah Politics

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) -The 2018 Utah Legislative Session has officially come to an end.

We sit down with Governor Gary Herbert for a closer look at some of the bills that were passed over these last few months and get his thoughts on the progress being made in the state of Utah.

One area that the governor discussed was the states education budget.

“The big winner is education. 280 million dollars of new money is ongoing and because of that, 170 million dollars of new money will be for higher education and for public education it’s about a 7 percent WPU increase, so almost record numbers if not record numbers for education and fusion,” said Herbert.

He also talks about the states income tax as well as it’s Medicaid expansion plan.
