SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah) – Republican 3rd District Candidate Chris Herrod is challenging Representative John Curtis for this years party nomination.
Herrod stops by Inside Utah Politics to discuss why he decided to go up against Curtis for a second time.
“I thought there would be another conservative that jumped in the race and then on the last day no conservative had jumped in and so I talked to my wife and decided to do it,” said Herrod. ” I believe this district deserves a conservative.”
Herrod goes on to explain why he believes he fits the conservative mold and why Curtis doesn’t.
“In the debate Curtis said that my brand of conservative is extreme. Well I’m a Mike Lee and Ted Cruz type of conservative. And so if he thinks that’s extreme, then he must have a different view,” said Herrod.
He also talks about his strategy in the final weeks leading up to the Primary Election.
“The biggest thing is just to make sure that people go out and look at the records. You can Google my record and you can Google John’s record,” said Herrod.
He also address his concerns regarding gun violence in Utah and the national debt.
