SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – The governor is asking his party to stop with all the infighting.

Far-right members of the Utah GOP have been at war with more moderate members since Senate Bill 54 created a dual path to the primary ballot.

Governor Gary Herbert addressed the battle Thursday during his monthly news conference.

“I am concerned about the divisiveness, speaking now as a republican, the divisiveness in the party. I’m concerned about people that feel disenfranchised, because of the process that we are going through here and the polarization that seems to be evident,” said Herbert.

The governor believes the legal fight should play out in court, but in the meantime, he’s encouraging party members to come together.
