SOUTH SALT LAKE, UT (GOOD4UTAH) – Police were dispatched to the area of 3728 South 700 East to investigate the report of gun fire.
The 911 call came in around 3:00am Saturday morning. Police say neighbors heard arguing and yelling, followed by a gunshot.
When police arrived there was no one at the scene. Upon investigation, they discovered blood.
They went inside a nearby residence to look for victims and took one uninjured man into custody after he refused to cooperate.
Police are trying to determine if the man they arrested was involved in the fight.
Local hospitals were advised by officers to watch for anyone arriving with a gunshot wound. Within minutes, police received a call from a hospital near the area of the 911 call.
A 29-year-old man had arrived with a single gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to the hospital by two people who had been at the original scene, police say.
The man’s wound is not life-threatening and he is expected to be okay.
The shooting is under investigation and there is not a clear motive at this time.
