TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (News4utah) – One man is dead after a crash on Bangerter Highway in Taylorsville Friday night.
Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen said the crash happened at about 11:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes at the intersection of 6200 South and Bangerter Highway between a Honda and a truck pulling a trailer with a tractor. Witnesses said the driver of the Honda did not appear to see the truck and struck the back of it at a high speed, forcing the Honda to go up under the truck.
Police said all of the Honda’s occupants had to be extracted and were taken by ambulance in serious condition. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
All of the occupants in the Honda appeared to be in their 20s.
Bangerter Highway was closed for several hours as the crash was reconstructed however as of Saturday morning it was clear. The crash is still under investigation and it is not known if there were any other contributing factors.
Hansen said they have identified the man killed but have been unable to notify next of kin so his name is still being withheld.
