SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – Jeremy DowDell scored 26 points, as the Olympus High boys basketball team improved to 26-0 with a resounding 79-43 win over Bountiful in the 5A boys basketball semifinals Friday at the Huntsman Center.
Rylan Jones added 17 points and 8 assists, while Harrison Creer and Spencer Jones each added 13 points, as the Titans rolled past the Braves and will play for its second ever state championship. The Titans led by as many as 42 points.
Olympus will face Corner Canyon in the title game. The Chargers pulled away from Timpanogos behind 29 points from Hayden Welling, who made 10 of 12 shots from the field.
Leading by three points at the half, Corner Canyon blitzed the Timberwolves in the third quarter, outscoring game 23-12. Gabe Toombs had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Nate Warnock added 10 points for the Chargers.
Corner Canyon has never won a state basketball championship.
The Chargers and Titans will square off at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Huntsman Center.
