WEST VALLEY CITY (ABC4) – A man is in serious condition after allegedly being shot by a West Valley City Police officer.

West Valley City Police Department (WVCPD) say that this incident began shortly after 1 p.m. today when officers received reports of a shooting near the local Carl’s Jr. restaurant.

Records state that police responded and located a shooting victim at the restaurant, while “another officer located a suspect matching the description of the shooter nearby.”

WVCPD says that three Taylorsville officers responded as well. The agency says that “the WVCPD officer approached the suspect and at some point during that exchange, shots were fired.” Police records state that the suspect was shot and transported to the hospital in serious condition, though no officers were injured.

The victim of the initial shooting call, a 41-year-old man, was allegedly grazed in the head by a bullet.

At this time, WVCPD says they are working the identify the suspect who was shot.

An investigation into this incident will be carried out by SLCPD’s Protocol Team One.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) – An officer has reportedly been involved in a critical incident in West Valley City today.

The West Valley City Police (WVCP) announced at 2:17 p.m. on August 7 that an officer involved critical incident occurred in the area of 1500 West 3500 South.

ABC4 has crews en route to the scene and will update this story as more information becomes available.
