“As our family grieves the loss of our loved ones we appreciate the outpouring of love from the community. At this time we ask that you respect our privacy and most especially the privacy of their child. We will not be accepting visitors at this time.”

HYRUM, Utah (ABC4) — Authorities have released the identities of the Hyrum couple that was found dead in their home as Dustin Preece, 38, and his wife, Heather Preece, 37.
Dustin and Heather Preece were both found dead by their 16-year-old daughter in their Hyrum home with gunshot wounds.
Cache County Sheriff D. Chad Jensen said detectives have determined Dustin Preece shot and killed Heather before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide.
“This is a terrible incident that happened in our peaceful community, but especially for the 16-year-old daughter who discovered the scene,” said Jensen. “Victims’ advocates are working closely with her and the family to get them the services they may need.”
ORIGINAL STORY: Hyrum couple found dead in home by 16-year-old daughter
HYRUM, Utah (ABC4) — A Hyrum couple was found dead in their home with gunshot wounds on Wednesday, June 7, said the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the victims were married and were discovered by their 16-year-old daughter.
The girl reportedly found her mother, 37, dead in a bedroom. Her father, 38, was found dead in another part of the house. Police said Cache County Victims’ advocates were called to help the 16-year-old girl and assist in notifying family of the couple’s deaths.
Further details and what may have happened is still under investigation. Detectives said more information will be released when the investigation is complete.
Cache County Sheriff’s Office said there is no indication that there is a risk to the public.
