PROVO, Utah (ABC4 Sports) – BYU is getting point guard Nick Emery back, but not for the entire season.
The NCAA informed BYU that it has concluded its review of the reinstatement request for Emery, who sat out all of the 2017-18 season after an investigation was launched to see if Emery received improper benefits from a booster.
As part of Emery’s reinstatement conditions, he will be required to sit out the first nine games of the 2018-19 season.
Emery has two years of eligibility remaining.
In two seasons as a Cougar, Emery has averaged 14.7 points per game and became just the fourth BYU player to reach 1,000 career points as a sophomore. As a freshman, he was named second-team All-West Coast Conference and also made the All-WCC Freshman Team.
