SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- Hogle Zoo welcomed their newest resident Tuesday.
27-year-old Mia is an orangutan from the Greenville Zoo in South Carolina.
Zoo officials say Mia moved into the Great Ape building at the end of Sept. and has spent the last few weeks getting to know fellow orangutans.
He came to the zoo as part of their participation in the Orangutan Species Survival Program (SSP).
Erin Jones, great ape supervisor at Hogle Zoo, said the he Mia seems to be fitting in.
“”He’s the most easygoing guy ever. They’re all learning how to get along as a group of animals they’re figuring out likes and dislikes. He’s fantastic.”
Mia is currently on exhibit.
