Chicago O’Hare International Airport overtook Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport for having the most flight operations.
The 2018 data released on Monday by the Federal Aviation Administration shows Chicago had more flights than Atlanta for the first time since 2014.
The number of those flights? 903,747 to be exact.
Airport officials say the traditional barometer used to determine the world’s busiest airport isn’t how many flights come and go, it’s how many passengers pass through.
In this measure, nobody comes close to Atlanta. 103.9 million passengers passed through Atlanta in 2017, which is eight million more than the second busiest airport in Beijing, China.
