SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Common steps to avoiding the flu including getting your flu shot, washing your hands often, trying to avoid sick people, and making sure you stay hydrated.

What about using a box of pre-infected tissues? Think that’ll do the trick?

Vaev claims its tissues aren’t “like any tissue you’ve used before” because these special products will help you “get sick on your terms.”

According to the company, the tissues are “specifically engineered to contain and absorb colloid buildup, salts, antiseptic enzymes, immunoglobulins, and glycoproteins such as lactoferrin and mucins, produced by goblet cells in the mucous membranes and submucosal gland.”

So no, no one actually sneezes into the tissue.

What do doctors think?

“That’s bizarre,” Richard Watkins, MD, told Yahoo Lifestyle. “This seems like a total waste of money.”

This is potentially hazardous if it does work, and I don’t think that it does,” William Schaffner, MD, chimed in to Yahoo. “There are over 200 common cold viruses out there. Suppose you get infected with one — you can still get infected again because there are other cold viruses out there.”

Despite what doctors think, the product has actually sold out online, according to the company’s website.

That’s right — SOLD OUT.

No word on if or when the pre-infected tissues will be restocked.
