YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (News4Utah) – Yosemite National Park rangers recovered the body of a fallen hiker Tuesday afternoon.
National Park Service said the male hiker fell from the Half Dome cables inside the park around 4:30 p.m. Monday. The hiker was reportedly on the Half Dome cables hiking with another person during thunderstorm activity when he slipped and fell from the cables.
Officials said this is the first fatality on the Half Dome cables since 2011.
The hiker’s identity will be released pending family notification.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
