Mudslide forces closure of SR-143 near Brian Head

IRON COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – State Route 143 was closed in Iron County Monday afternoon after a mudslide.

A storm moved through the area causing a flash flood making SR-143 impassable near the town of Brian Head.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the area.

Utah Department of Transportation reported a debris flow from the burn scar area moved about 2 to 5.5 ft. of mud.

Crews eventually reopened the road after about two hours when debris was cleared.
