SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah) – A suspected child predator is again facing new charges of sexually molesting a teen-age boy.
Weston Kubbe was charged Tuesday with multiple counts of unlawful sex with a minor. Draper police investigated the case involving an 18-year old who claimed when he was 14-years old Kubbe sexually molested him.
Kubbe became known to police after an amber alert was issued for a South Ogden 14-year old who went missing in October. But a few hours later, the boy was found in Murray. Kubbe was charged with sexually abusing the boy. But police soon learned there were more victims including an eleven-year old who police say was kidnapped by Kubbe and taken to his Murray home. Unified Police also investigated a case involving a 21-year old man who accused Kubbe of sexually molesting him when he was 14-or-15 years old.
“It caught us off guard,” said Kubbe’s neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous. “We’re surprised that it keeps happening.”
The neighbor said young boys were always at Kubbe’s Murray home.
“He seemed to bond and get along with these kids more than he did with adults,” said the neighbor. “Kids kept coming back playing and enjoying. They had quite a relationship.”
Tuesday, the Salt Lake district attorney filed a fourth case against Kubbe.
“One of those victims had seen this on the media,” said Sim Gill, the district attorney. “He had seen there were allegations that came out of Davis County and reached out based on what he had seen.”
According to charging documents, they met on the internet.
“They chatted, exchanged phone numbers and called each other,” prosecutors claimed in court documents. “Llater, they met at a shopping complex in Salt Lake County and (victim) entered the (Kubbe’s) car … went to a wooded area.”
Police said the internet is Kubbe’s alleged method of operation. They said his victims are lured with a promise of drugs and video games.
“If there is somebody else out there, I would encourage them if they have some knowledge of being a victim, to contact their local law enforcement agency,” Gill said.
Kubbe appeared to have been released from jail for his previous charges but according to court records a warrant is out for his arrest on these latest charges.
