Participate in Relay For Life to save those battling cancer

Midday

Relay For Life teams up with the community to save lives. Jessica Coats, American Cancer Society Community Development Manager, and Linda Baugh, American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Box Elder County Volunteer, joined Nicea DeGering to share how you can participate.

Relay For Life are community events where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times. Individuals and teams raise funds and awareness to help the American Cancer Society save lives.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Box Elder County will take place in Brigham City on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The address is: Pioneer Park, 800 West Forest Street.

The event will feature an opening ceremony that honors cancer survivors. Then, a luminaria ceremony will commence at dark to remember those lost to cancer and to honor survivors.

You can participate in Bright the Night, a 5K Glow in the Dark Run at 8 p.m. The cost is $25, and the first 100 to register receive a shirt and medal.

A kids run is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Several food trucks will be at the event including, SOUPendous, Smoke‘n Food and Waffle Love

You can sign up for any of these events or donate at RelayForLife.org. Get your friends and family together to form a team. You can also purchase a luminaria in memory or in honor of someone.
