First ever Busker Festival coming to Salt Lake City

Midday

The SLC Arts Council is involved in the very first Busker Festival. Megan Risbon with the Salt Lake City Arts Council and Magician Eric Wanner, joined Nicea DeGering, to talk about what exactly that is.

On August 24th, Regent Street and Block 70 will be transformed into SLC’s first Busker Festival. Once home to a thriving Vaudeville scene, this festival celebrates the city’s history by bringing the living tradition of busking and street theatre to downtown.

Appropriate for all ages, Busker Fest will thrill audiences with musicians, dancers, hula-hoopers, jugglers, and comedy. This event is free and open to the public. Performers will accept donations.

What is a busker?
A busker is a person who entertains in a public place for donations. Busking is a time-honored tradition that adds to the vibrancy and culture of cities around the world.
