Man arrested in connection with attempted kidnapping case

UPDATE:
Wednesday evening the Hurricane City Police Department booked Earl B. Chappell, 39 of LaVerkin on charges of Aggravated Kidnapping and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Detectives have positively identified him as the one in the surveillance photos and obtained information leading to his involvement in this incident. He was located in LaVerkin and taken into custody by HCPD and LaVerking City Police Department. “We were able to locate the subject and detained him without incident.” 

HURRICANE, Utah (ABC 4 UTAH) – Hurricane police put all six schools on lockdown Wednesday morning after a man pulled out a gun and tried to get a female high school student into his car. The lockdown was lifted around 11:30 a.m.

The student ran to the school for safety and the man drove off. The attempted kidnapping took place around 8 a.m. at 50 South 300 West in Hurricane.

Police say the man is described as late 30’s to mid 40’s, about 5’8″, around 200 pounds with a brown beard. He was wearing a black beanie, plaid jacket, and dark jeans. His car is described as a white four-door passenger car.
