Man accused of sexually assaulting teen in Clearfield

CLEARFIELD, Utah (ABC4 Utah)  A karate teacher from Clearfield is accused of having sex with a 14 year old girl who was his student.

20 year old Damian Fullmer was arrested Thursday and bokked into the Davis County Jail on six counts of aggravated sexual assault, and two counts of forcible sodomy of a child.

Police were alerted Wednesday night after the teenager admitted to her parents she had sex with Fullmer. The probable cause affidavit shows the parents found texts and nude photos from Fullmer on her phone.

Investigators claim Fullmer met the 14 year old at the Evolutionary Martial Arts studio in Syracuse where he worked as an instructor. The 14 year old told officers they started having sex in August of 2016. Sgt. Kyle Jeffries said they aren’t sure what took place before that time.

“Who knows how long he had been grooming her to get her into this situation,” said Sgt. Jeffries. “That we don’t know yet.”

The documents show the 14 year old began sneaking out of her home to meet with he Fullmer who would pick her up, and then drive to his place to have sex.

Police don’t believe Fullmer targeted any other students, but they do want parents to talk with their children.

“We don’t believe there are any other victims, but we do want parents who have had their children at that facility to talk to their children and find out if there is anything we need to further investigate,” said Sgt. Jeffries.

Evolutionary Martial Arts didn’t want to comment on camera due to the ongoing investigation. They did tell us they terminated Fullmer as soon as they heard of the allegations.

Several parents who came to drop their kids off didn’t know about the arrest. Many whose kids were instructed by Fullmer were shocked.

“It just breaks my heart. I can’t even imagine the parents, I can’t even imagine his parents, the company he worked for it’s just one of those things you never know,” said one parent.

The parents we talked with said they still plan to bring their children to the martial arts studio because of the great programs they offer for children.
Police said If anyone has information related to this case or thinks their child may have been a victim of Fullmer, please call the Clearfield City Police Department at 801-525-2806.
