SANDY (News4Utah) – It was like a high-tech science fair on steroids today at the Mountain America Expo Center in Sandy.

It was the fifth annual Utah S.T.E.M. Expo featuring 250 projects like floating hoverboards, spinning solar systems, electric citrus and roaming robots – and lots of them.

S.T.E.M. is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and all of the experiments were made by middle, high school and college students.

The Beehive Science and Technology Academy was named the 2017 Utah Charter School of the Year. They put this event on with the help of dozens of sponsors including the University of Utah, Weber State University, Westminster College, Hill Air Force Base and I.M. Flash Technologies.
