UINTAH COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – A female victim was shot and the suspect is dead a domestic shooting in Uintah County Saturday night.
Uintah County Sheriff deputies were called to the scene of a shooting at Canyon Villas Townhouses located at 2425 West 500 North in Uintah County at 10:40 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they found an adult female victim in a neighbor’s residence that had been shot multiple times. Deputies were directed to another residence where it was believed the shooter had fled.
After a short search, an adult male, believed to be the suspect, was found dead inside the home.
According to witnesses, a physical altercation could be heard between the male and female inside their residence.
The woman then ran from her residence and was knocking on her neighbors doors looking for help when the suspect followed after her and shot her multiple times with a handgun as one of the neighbor’s was opening their door.
The neighbor was able to get the victim inside his residence until law enforcement and EMS crews arrived. The suspect fled back to his residence where deputies found him deceased by a self-inflicted gunshot.
The victim was transported to Ashley Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and later airlifted to SLC for further treatment.
