Woman shot during home burglary, police say

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Officers with Salt Lake City Police Department responded to 757 West 200 North on reported of a shooting Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Police say a 46-year-old woman was inside her room when a stranger broke in, shot her once and stole items before taking off. The woman was taken the hospital in serious condition. 
 
The suspect, later identified as Luis Guerra-Perez, 31, initially fled the scene after the shooting. Officers spotted him near 800 West North Temple and took him into custody. 
 
 
Investigators are working to determine the relationship if any between the suspect and victim.
