MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4 News) – A 70-year-old woman had to be extricated out of her vehicle after rolling into Little Cottonwood Creek Saturday afternoon in Midvale.

Lt. Paul Barker, Unified Police Department, said they received a call at about 250 p.m. in regards to an crash at about 7100 South Union Park near the entrance to the Walmart.

Barker said the crash happened when a 70-year-old woman driving a red SUV was headed west and another car pulled out in front of her. The two vehicles collided and the woman’s car went off the side of the road and rolled into the shallow water of the creek.

Barker said crews had to work diligently to get the woman out of her car while the fire department worked to stabilize the vehicle from rolling any further. After the woman was safely out of the car, she was taken by ambulance to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

There were several witnesses to the accident and Barker said they will need to go through all their statements to determine exactly what happened.
