Woman from California rescued after breaking leg while hiking in Kanarraville

KANARRAVILLE FALLS, Utah (News4Utah) – A California woman is recovering after breaking her leg and needing to be rescued during a hike on Kanarraville Falls Trail Saturday afternoon. 

Sgt. Nik Johnson, Iron County Sheriff’s Office, said they were called to the area around 4 p.m. on a report of a 64-year-old woman who had possibly broke her leg and was unable to get down the trail. 

Deputies from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office responded to the trailhead, which is located at the eastern edge of Kanarraville. Iron County Search and Rescue, Iron County Technical Rescue Team, and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted the deputies in locating the woman who was approximately 2.5 miles up the trail.

Responding units were successful in bringing the injured woman out of the canyon where she was transported to the hospital and treated for a broken leg. 

The woman was from the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
