SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – A woman was critically injured when she was struck by a car while she was crossing a busy street in Salt Lake City Saturday night.
Lt. Mark Buhman said the 48-year-old woman was crossing 700 East at 1830 South in an unmarked crosswalk around 9:30 p.m.
The woman was hit by a southbound car and suffered a broken leg and head injuries. She was transported in critical condition to the nearest hospital.
An unmarked crosswalk is a crosswalk that exists at every intersection regardless of whether or not it is painted. Vehicles must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians crossing the roadway within any marked or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.
It is not known if any citations will be issued as the investigation is ongoing.
