KEARNS, Utah (ABC4 News) – A 27-year-old woman was arrested for arson after police say she allegedly lit two vehicles on fire in a Kearns neighborhood last week.

According to charging documents, police arrested Jessica Halee Wright and booked her into the Salt Lake County Jail on two second-degree felony counts of arson.

Documents state during the investigation into two vehicle fires that occurred on Feb 22 on Longmore Drive in Kearns, they found several homes with surveillance cameras in the neighborhood. Three different cameras showed a Honda Odyssey stop near home and a female exit the van.

The video shows the female walk with a small gas can in her hand toward the home. She then poured an unknown liquid onto a SUV in the driveway then light it on fire. She then poured more liquid on a car parked in the street and light it, before walking away, according to the document.

The owners of the damaged cars recognized the Honda Odyssey as belonging to Wright, their son’s ex-girlfriend.

When police attempted to talk to Wright, she told them she owned the Odyssey before requesting a lawyer.

During a search of the Honda Odyssey, investigators we were able to find several identifying traits that confirmed it was the same car in the video.

Both vehicles sustained major fire damage at more than $5,000 each.
