Winter weather hits mountain commute Friday

Local News

PARLEY’S CANYON, Utah (ABC4 News) Winter weather welcomed early morning drivers Friday.

The morning’s commute on Interstate 80 featured wet roads, slush, and black ice.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) had several crews treating the roads with salt and a brine solution beginning around 3 a.m. according to spokesperson John Gleason.

After an overnight storm dropped snow in the mountain areas when temperatures dipped below freezing.

Snow and rain are expected to redevelop later in the day and continue through the weekend.

UDOT asks drivers to leave early, wear seatbelts, don’t follow too closely to other vehicles and give plenty of room for snowplows.
