SALT LAKE CITY, (News4Utah) – A lot of excitement in downtown Salt Lake City as runners from more than 30 states hit the pavement for the 2018 Salt Lake City Marathon. 

The first place winner for the men and overall, Travis Fuller of Orem, Utah finished with a time of 02:27:54. Fuller has run in previous marathons but says this is his first marathon he’s completed. Fuller ran for Brigham Young University and hopes to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Trials.  

The first place winner for the women was Jen Rock from Macomb, Michigan with a time of 02:50:24. Rock has run in previous marathons but says this is her first time racing at elevation. Rock said she decided to run in the SLC marathon because it was during the same time she would be in Salt Lake City for a conference. 

Female Top 3: 

  • 1st place: Jen Rock (Macomb, MI) 
  • 2nd place: Tara Beth Lewis (Lehi, UT) 
  • 3rd place: Jane Zick (Salt Lake City, UT) 

Male Top 3: 

  • Travis Fuller (Provo, UT)
  • Daniel Bishop (Salt Lake City, UT) 
  • Samson Mutua (Colorado Springs, CO)
