SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah) -Rare with Swiss or well done with cheddar, it’s hard to beat a good cheeseburger and Tuesday, September 18th was National Cheeseburger Day but who serves the best cheeseburger in Utah?
Many look no further than the place by the red tractor – Lucky 13 on 1300 South in Salt Lake City which consistently wins awards.
“We use chopped chuck instead of ground beef so we can cook it at any temperature you’d like which makes it juicy,” bartender April Eastwood told News4Utah’s Rick Aaron. “We make it fresh every day.”
“Cheeseburgers are my guilty pleasure and I love coming here,” Alex Graser said. “It’s awesome.”
Brian Densley had Lucky 13’s Celestial Burger with smoked bacon, grilled onions, barbeque sauce and cheddar and said it’s the best burger in the state.
“By far. By far and away,” Densley said. “The burger’s really good. The sauces are really good I think that’s the biggest thing and it’s cooked to perfection.”
Others prefer Tonyburgers, a five-location chain, that also uses a special blend of meats.
“It has chuck, sirloin, and brisket,” Tonyburgers Manager Mitch Cleaver said.
What’s so good about Tonyburgers?
“Definitely the patty,” Cassidy Costa said. “It’s just the blend of meat is really good. It’s tender.”
Some prefer the old standbys. Hire’s Big H has been serving up cheeseburgers in Salt Lake City since 1959…and Crown Burgers has been around since 1978 famous for adding pastrami.
“I’d have to say Crown Burger might have the best cheeseburger I think,” Brandon Madsen said. “With the pastrami on there really makes the flavors really good.”
Of course there are numerous other cheeseburger paradises in Utah like the famous Burger Bar in Roy, Hi-Mountain Drug Store in Kamas, Ray’s Tavern in Green River and The Cotton Bottom Inn in Holladay, famous for their Garlic Burgers.
