What could the Gas Tax cost you?

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – ABC4’s Sarah Martin asked drivers to do the math on what 10-cents per gallon would mean for their wallets.

She found a range from 5 dollars per month, all the way to 17 dollars per month for a Lyft driver. Each had different thoughts about how they would vote on Ballot Question #1.

The question asks if Utahns would be willing to spend 10-cents per gallon for education and transportation. It is a non-binding question, meaning there will be no official legislation until the February 2019 legislative session. Many have expressed concern over where the funds would ultimately go; lawmakers behind the proposition promise that the money will go directly to the classroom and teacher salaries as mandated by local districts and school boards.
