WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A condominium fire that killed one person and injured two others has been ruled accidental, investigators say.

West Jordan Fire Department says Judy Pedersen, 66, was found dead in the condo where the fire originated.
Investigators say an explosion occurred. Witnesses in the unit above also reported feeling the explosion below them. The knob on the gas stove in Pedersen’s unit was found in the “on” position.

Shane Stegen, 26, and Hayley Morrison-Stegen, 23, were injured when they jumped from a second-story window to escape the fire when the blaze prevented them from escaping the stairs. They were taken to the hospital.

Eleven people were displaced because of the fire. All eight units sustained smoke, fire and water damage.
