According to data compiled by the state of Utah, last year in Salt Lake County over 230 people were hit (and injured) by cars.
Here are some interesting facts we found on the database, available on crashmapping.utah.gov:
- The time of day most people were hit? 7 a.m.
- The least amount of people were hit on a Sunday.
- Surprisingly most of the drivers that hit pedestrians had no other form of distraction in the car (cell phones, passengers etc) and it was a dry, clear day.
- Cause? In most cases, there was no obvious cause for the collision, but a majority of them were caused when the driver failed to yield right-of-way.
The database is full of much more information. Check it out here.
