Water contamination, bipartisan task force pushes for nationwide drinking water standard

Local News

1/24/2019 – A group of Democrats and Republicans formed a task force to combat chemicals found in our nation’s drinking water.

The concern stems from PFAS, the flame retardant chemicals used in firefighting foams seeping into our groundwater. The group says military bases are at a higher risk of water contamination.

They are looking to place more restrictions on PFAS and establish clear guidelines and regulations on our drinking water. The task force requested that the ‘Environmental Protection Agency’ establish a nationwide standard for our drinking water. A starting point to protect communities at risk.
