Washington County man arrested for destroying elderly mother’s house, resulting in $10k in damages

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) — A Washington County man is facing a second degree felony charge for criminal mischief after police say he destroyed his elderly mother’s home, resulting in $10,000 worth of damage. 

Elton Taylor was arrested after police responded to the house where family members reported significant damages to the home. Officers say upon arrival, they found blood on the floors, several windows busted out of the house, fixtures, kitchen cabinets and a television broken. 

After conducting a safety sweep of the house, police say they found Taylor in his basement bedroom with cuts on his hands. According to arrest records, Taylor denied doing the damage and told officers he went to his room because he was scared. 

Officers spoke to someone who said Taylor admitted to the crime when had shown up to her house the day before with blood on his hands. He is in the Washington County jail where he is being on a $10,000 bail.
