AMERICAN FORK (News4Utah)- An American Fork man previously convicted for lewdness is now accused of taking pictures of young girls at stores in Utah County, and police need your help finding the suspect.

American Fork police say they have not been able to locate 30-year-old Dustin Scott.

Charging documents show customers at a Deseret Industries store witnessed him using his phone to take pictures of a 6-year-old girl.

When confronted charging documents state Scott told officers he was just taking a picture of a shirt, but after getting permission to search his phone, investigators found multiple photos of girls ages 6 to 16 in the “recently deleted” folder.

“The juveniles in the photos do not appear to be aware that their photo is being taken,” documents state.

One of those photos, timestamped Oct. 28, 2017, was an up-skirt photo of a 13-year-old girl, the police report stated.

Police say that gives them enough to charge Scott with voyeurism.

I believe his explanation was that it was an accident and that he didn’t mean to take that photograph,”  said Sgt. Josh Christensen, spokesperson for the American Fork Police Dept. “Given the totality of the circumstances, it gave us probable cause to file the criminal charge.”

In 2016 Scott was convicted of lewdness after exposing himself to a mother and her six children at Walmart in Lindon.

Scott was expected to turn himself into police on August 2nd but didn’t show up. There is now a warrant out for his arrest.

Anyone that may know where he is asked to call the American Fork Police Department at 801-794-3970.
