Volunteer group finishes”Homeless in Time” survey

Local News

LOGAN (News4Utah) – We sometimes think of homelessness as just a Salt Lake City problem. But this morning, volunteers ventured out to find homeless individuals in Cache, Box Elder and Rich Counties.

The Bear River Association of Governments organized the annual three day survey called the “Homeless Point in Time Count” to discover the number of homeless individuals in their communities and to determine their needs.

Before dawn this morning, the teams fanned out across the area to search, finding people sleeping in parks and camps. Now, they say they will work on getting them into housing and other basic services if they want them.

This morning’s effort is part of a nationwide homelessness survey.
