SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Utah’s Sikh community gathered on Saturday to celebrate their new year, a holiday known as Vaisakhi.

In addition to starting the Punjabi New Year, this is a spring harvest festival and an important religious commemoration, marking 550 years since the religion was founded in India and the 320th anniversary of the start of the Khalsa warrior tradition.

Sikhs have a special dress code and follow teachings of equality, brotherhood, sharing, kindness, and humanity.
