OREM, Utah (News4Utah) – Utah’s first baby of the New Year was born in Orem!
Mom, Valerie and doctors helped bring baby Hannah into the world at Timpanogos Regional Hospital Monday morning on January 1. Hannah was born just six seconds after midnight.
Her parents were very surprised to have a New Year’s baby.
“We really thought the baby was going to come around 6 in the afternoon. and then at 9. then, as 11 was coming closer, I thought that she would be born at 11:30 or something like that… We never thought that she would be born at 12,” said Valerie.
Mom says Hannah hasn’t cried much and has been peaceful baby. The newborn weighed in at 7 pounds 9 ounces at birth and was 19.5 inches long. Little Hannah and mom are both healthy and doing well.
A few other babies were runners up for the first Utahn born in 2018 title. Eduardo and Denise Perez brought their bundle of joy into the world at Intermountain’s LDS Hospital at 12:25 a.m. There was a baby born at 12:29 at McKay-Dee Hospital and one born at 12:49 a.m. at Utah Valley Hospital.
The first baby of the new year born at University of Utah Hospital was Baby Joseph. He arrived at 1:40 a.m.
