LAYTON, Utah (News4Utah) – Prince William and Princess Kate have welcomed a baby boy. Utahns tell News4Utah that the news is overwhelming.
“I’m so excited!” shouted Mandy Island, Owner of Little Taste of Britain, a restaurant in Layton that serves up British food. “They have a new boy. They’ve got two boys now and a girl so I’m really excited,” Island added.
Island moved to Utah from the United Kingdom 14 years ago. She and her family opened up their restaurant 10 years ago. They serve authentic food that you think you could only find in the UK.
After hearing the news about the new addition to the royal family, she told News4Utah’s Brittany Johnson that it was time to celebrate.
“I’m sure there’s a lot of people celebrating today and a lot of people at the pubs,” she said. “That’s the main place where they’ll be celebrating and having a drink on the new prince.”
Kate, 36, delivered a son in the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kensington Palace announced.
The newborn, the third child of William and Kate, weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces at birth. He was born at 11:01 a.m., local time.
The name of the new prince has yet to be announced.
