Utahns brace for winter storm — in spring

Local News

MILLCREEK, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Winter is coming. Or, at least wintry weather.

“I loved today’s weather. So happy that it’s sunny out,” said Josh Taylor.

“But I’m bummed that it’s going to get stormy again,” added Taylor.

Just over a week ago, Taylor lost power during a wintry storm that left more than 700 individuals without power — some of them, for days.

“It was weird to have power out all day,” said Taylor.

According to Rocky Mountain Power, wet snow during Spring can weigh down branches — especially ones with leaves on them — and fall on vehicles.

Trees can also fall on power lines — which in late March caused numerous power outages.

“They cause pockets of small outages all over the place,” said Tiffany Erickson with Rocky Mountain Power.

Thankfully, she says, some of the more vulnerable branches already came off in that late March storm.
