Utah Symphony, Utah Opera to celebrate American composer Leonard Bernstein

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News)- The Utah Symphony and Utah Opera is celebrating one of Americas greatest composer, conductor, educator, and humanitarians Leonard Bernstein.

Candide!  tell the story of a young man’s journey from innocence to worldliness, from Europe to South America, in love and in death, and finally to a life of contentment and peace. Bernstein’s brilliant score includes such musical favorites as “Glitter and be gay” and “Make our garden grow.” 

Catch the performance at Abravanel Hall, 123 West South Temple, on Friday, Nov. 9th at 7:30 p.m. or Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

The cast includes tenor Jonathan Johnson as Candide, soprano Amy Owens as Cunegonde, and baritone Hugh Russell as Pangloss. A fundraising soirée will follow the Saturday evening performance.
