Utah student heads to National Spelling Bee

LINDON, Utah (News4Utah) – Cassie Rust a 14-year old 8th grader at Oak Canyon Junior High in Lindon is about to head to Washington to compete for her second time in the National Spelling Bee.

The big spelling bee competition begins Tuesday May 29th and runs through Thursday May 31st. Eight students from Utah will be competing in the competition.

Cassie is an expert speller and created a website to help her study. She made it through the Alpine School District and regional competitions.

More than 500 students from different states will compete in this year’s nationals in Washington D.C.
