Utah Royals FC is new women’s professional soccer team name

SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- The name of the new women’s professional soccer team is the Utah Royals FC.

The Royals, coached by Laura Harvey, will begin play in the National Women’s Soccer League in April 2018.

The new Utah Royals FC circular badge pays homage to Real Salt Lake’s regal identity. Details about the logo can be found here.

The Royals will primarily be made up of players from the folding FC Kansas City team, which has won two NWSL championships.

The NWSL consists of 10 teams, and will begin its sixth season next spring.
