best friends pet food pantry

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – Best Friends Animal Society of Utah is opening the doors of its pet food pantry to the four-legged friends of federal workers.

As many federal workers prepare to miss a second paycheck due to the partial government shutdown, the local non-profit is looking to ease some of the burden by giving them free pet food.

Best Friends will waive the proof of income requirement at their pantry for federal workers impacted by the shutdown as long as food is still available.

Workers will need to call ahead or submit a request online, however, unless it’s an emergency.

The pet food pantry is located at 2005 S 1100 E, Salt Lake City and normal food pantry hours are Tuesday or Thursday 4-7 p.m. and Saturday 11-3 p.m.

If you’re not a federal worker and would still like to help the pet food pantry meet the demand, Best Friends is also accepting pet food donations.

Learn more or submit a request at bestfriends.org.
