WHITE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – A Utah man has been arrested for rape after a woman reported he sexually assaulted her then stabbed her when she tried to leave.

According to charging documents, the incident happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning when a 20-year-old woman was at the home of 21-year-old Kasey Staker with other family and friends.

The woman said she was not feeling well and went to bed in Staker’s room. The woman said Staker then started rubbing her back, but it then escalated when he started removing her clothing and tied her to the bed.

The woman said while she was tied to the bed Staker raped her and then untied her and went to the other room. While he was gone, the woman said she started getting dressed and collecting her belongings to leave when Staker returned to the room and asked where she was going. When she told him she was leaving and he raped her, Staker asked her if she wanted to die, grabbed a knife and started stabbing her.

The woman said she ran out of the room, leaving her belongings behind, including purse and cellphone.

Witnesses at the house said when the woman came out of the room, Staker was behind her and tore her shirt off and then put a knife to her throat.

The witness said he talked Staker into dropping the knife after a short time and letting the woman go.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for several lacerations to her body, including her face and neck.

Staker was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on two first-degree felony charges of rape and aggravated sexual assault and one third-degree felony charge of aggravated assault.
