The Utah Jazz hosted its 3rd annual NBA Math Hoops Live event at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Thursday night. The goal of the event is to teach Utah students math through basketball.
The event had Jazz players shoot from designated “locked” areas of the court, but only if students could solve certain math problems.
“This is really smart. To implement math and the game that we love, to put it together with the youth. It’s a great time so far!” said Jazz player Naz Mitrou-Long.
Over 40 students participated in Thursday’s event. The program will finish up in February with a regional tournament.
