Salt Lake City, Utah (ABC4 News) –  U.S. Marshals tracked down and arrested a Utah man in Hawaii Monday after eluding them for the last eleven years.

William Lawrence, 41, was captured and taken into custody by U.S. Marshals yesterday in Kauai, Hawaii at a Mcdonald’s restaurant.  Lawrence is convicted of Forcible Sexual Abuse and Forcible Sodomy, a third degree felony.

U.S. Marshals say Lawrence used his badge to coerce a young girl into performing sexual acts, handcuffing her to the bed forcing her to perform against her will. Before the sentencing hearing in Utah, Lawrence absconded and was designated as being a fugitive since late 2006.

“As a former law enforcement officer, Lawrence knew the strategies used to track down fugitives. He was able to allude law enforcement for years – until now,” Supervisory Deputy United States Marshal Derryl Spencer said.”
