The Utah Food Bank received a major donation on Thursday from the #LightTheWorld giving machines campaign.
Charity vending machines created by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints resulted in a $163,502 donation.
The donation will be turned into 600,000 meals for thousands of Utahans facing hunger.
The machines were installed at select locations around the world, resulting in more than $2.3 million for various local and global charities.
In the last fiscal year, the Utah Food Bank distributed $43 million pounds of food and goods. That’s equivalent of approximately 36 million meals to families and individuals in need.
