UTA launching major rail replacement project

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) — The Utah Transit Authority is reminding riders that beginning Saturday, May 4th, UTA will begin replacing 18-year-old rails and switches starting at 5 am.

The public transit service says all businesses in the area will remain open during construction as switches and rails are replaced between City Center and Courthouse TRAX station. This phase is expected to take 18 days

“We’ve put a lot of time, effort and thought into this construction project,” said, James Larson,
lead Communications Specialist for this project. “We will have volunteers at every station
affected by construction telling people where they need to go and what they need to do
throughout the whole process.”

Service delays and disruptions will occur during the periods of repair.
