UPDATED: Saratoga Springs Iron Hill fire burns 1000 acres, 25 percent contained

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (News4Utah) – The Iron Hill fire is burning in Saratoga Springs. The fire was caused by target shooting Saturday mornings says David Johnson with Saratoga Springs fire.

The shooter called in reporting the fire. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has engines on top of the mountain to protect comms buildings.

As of Sunday, 1000 acres have burned with the fire at 25% containment. Retardant was dropped on the north line near the communication towers. A 20 man crew is staying the night on the mountain by the towers, with another 20 man crew in the morning and 3 helicopters.

** correction ** It was originally reported 1400 acres have been burned but that has since been downgraded to 1000.
